SFC Luis Alberto Quiles-Guzman Sr., 84, passed away on November 19, 2014. He was born August 25, 1930, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He is survived by his loving wife Carmen Quiles of Killeen, Texas and two sons Luis A Quiles Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia and Alex R Quiles of Killeen, Texas and Grandchildren Cory Quiles and Gina Quiles both of Salina, Kansas.
SFC Luis A Quiles is a 21 year retired US Army veteran serving two tours of duty in Korea, in 1953, during the Korean War and again in 1966. SFC Luis A Quiles served as a general’s aid under General Barnes, General Chiles and General Hennessy.
Luis was an avid baseball fan who loved and followed the Chicago Cubs with hopes of seeing them win a World Series. He loved music of all types and was a major influence in his sons’ diversity of music. He loved the outdoors and the family had many great adventures traveling across the US during the 21 years in the military. He was also a story teller with an incredible memory, and he loved the movies and could tell you specific details about the actors in his favorite films.
A visitation will be held Monday, November 24, 2014 from 6:00pm-8:00pm with a Rosary at 7:00pm at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, on Tuesday, November 25 at 11:00am a funeral service will be held followed with burial at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery at 1:00pm with Full Military Honors.
