It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of Makaiyah Brianna Goodson. She passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026 in Temple, Texas at McLane Children's Hospital.
She was born unto Antwuann and Michelle Goodson in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was the baby of the family and the heartbeat that held her family together. She was the youngest of 5 children.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Trinity Goodson; brother, Amari Goodson; twin sister, Mya Renay Goodson; paternal grandparents, Marilyn Ann Goodson and Nathaniel Goodson; uncle Paul Hemingway.
She is survived by her sister, Destiney Stephens; maternal grandparents, Dan Stephens, Sr. and Beulah Gause; aunts, Bridget Nixon (Omar), Constance Gause, and Summer Stephens; uncles, Matthew Goodson (Dale), Marcus Goodson, Christopher Goodson (Stacey), Dan Stephens, Jr. (Steffanie) and Maurice Stephens; and a host of cousins, family and friends.
She was a very spirited 15 year old teenager and lived a life full of obstacles where she fought and overcame so much. She was very strong willed and determined to do what she wanted in spite of the hurdles she faced daily. She had the spirit of a leader and the heart of a soldier. She was kind and gentle, but demanded if she had to do it, it had to be done her way. She was an Army Brat and embraced all that came with it. Having to move from state to state she made sure to pick out her room first and wasn't going to be moved once she was set up. She always loved her personal space and wanted it to be kept the way she wanted it. She loved Barbie Dolls, Disney films, Music, Ipad but most of all she loved her some YouTube.
Makaiyah's journey was followed by many who drew inspiration in seeing her grow, achieve, conquer and survive so many hardships due to her disabilities. She left a handprint in all our hearts and she will be missed by us all. She is forever our princess and now our angel in heaven.
All are welcome at a visitation that will be held on 17 June 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home (1615 S Fort Hood St, Killeen, TX 76542). Makaiyah will then be traveling home to North Carolina to enter her final resting place.
