Maria Herrera

Born Maria de Lourdes Lara Muñiz February 11, 1959 in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. Lourdes was known for her warmth, generosity, and the undeniably loving spirit she brought into the world.

Lourdes was a woman of many talents, from working as a seamstress in El Paso, to a school cafeteria in Austin I.S.D. to owning her own cleaning business with her husband. But of all her accomplishments her most significant was raising her three children, whom she held as her pride and joy. As the family grew with the arrival of her grandchildren Lourdes found a new love and passion in becoming a grandmother. She loved her grandchildren immensely and cherished the time she spent with them. From crafting them their first blankets and pillows, to baking their birthday cakes, even making their Halloween costumes.

Her legacy is one of unyielding kindness and generosity. Lourdes was always willing to give and help others. Even when sick or in pain, she never faltered in caring for her loved ones more than she did for herself.

Lourdes's loss is deeply felt by her immense family and all those who knew and loved her. Her memory will continue to live on and inspire strength, resilience, and generosity in those whose lives she touched.

Lourdes will be lovingly remembered by her husband Miguel Herrera, her beloved children, sons Miguel "Mike" and his wife Deanna, Alex and his wife Stephanie, daughter Janet and her husband Brett Lowe. Grandchildren Jonathan Herrera, Sebastian Herrera, Penelope Herrera, Julian Herrera, Nicholas Lowe, and Tristan Lowe. As well as her brother and sisters, many cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws.

A visitation and rosary for Maria will be held Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM(Rosary at 7 pm) at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, 1615 South Fort Hood Road, Killeen, TX 76542.

A Mass of Christian Burial will occur Friday, November 22, 2024 at 12:30 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church 2903 Rancier Ave, Killeen, TX 76543.

A committal service will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 TX-195, Killeen, TX 76542.
