

Memorial services for Marshall B. Gibson Sr., 78, of Killeen, will be 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 22 at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. He passed away Wednesday, August 15 in the Waco Veterans Hospital. Pastor Glenn Scruggs will officiate, followed by full military honors. Services have been entrusted to Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Killeen.
Marshall was born July 21, 1934 in Smith County Mississippi to Lamar M. Gibson and Velma M. Ashley Gibson. He joined the United State Army April 1, 1957 and served two tours in Vietnam. He received numerous awards including National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, and Good Conduct Medal Clasp, among others. He retired from the Army April 1, 1977 after 20 years of service. After retirement he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking and the great outdoors. He was a proud member of the VFW and American Legion.
Mr. Gibson was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Gibson.
Survivors include daughter Vilma Crum and her husband Mike of Temple, grandchildren, Nicole Torres and her husband John, Michelle Plank and her husband Ben, Jackson Elliott, Avery Crum, and Whitney Hussey and her husband Jason, and great- grandchildren, Kyle Torres, Dylan Torres, and Aidan Plank; son Steven Gibson Sr. and his wife Deidra of Taylor, grandchildren Dana Weaver and her husband Cody, Meagan Gibson, Steven Gibson Jr., Melanie Gibson and great-grandson Landon Thompson; son Marshall Gibson Jr. and grandchildren Marshall Wayne Gibson and Cole Gibson; sister Barbara Gibson Ashley of LA
