Services for Melanie Lynn Machado will be 3:00pm Wednesday January 4, 2017 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen. Burial will follow at Killeen City Cemetery.

Melanie Lynn Machado of Killeen died December 23rd at her home in Killeen. She is survived by sons, Benjamin, of Ohio and Jimmy and Matthew Machado of Killeen, one grandson, Oliver, of Ohio, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Larry B. Smith, and three brothers, Jeffrey A. Smith and Timothy K. Smith, of Killeen, and Stephen T. Smith of Newville, Pennsylvania. She was also a much loved "Auntie Mellie" to her many nieces and nephews She is also survived by former spouse, Roberto Machado and his mother, Teresita Chappellin of Plantation, Florida.

Melanie was born March 3, 1960 in Gatesville, TX. She graduated from Killeen High School in 1978 after her family returned here from Belgium.

She was preceded in death by baby sister, Melissa, and by paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Smith of Ft. Pierce, Florida and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Sullivan of Okeechobee, Florida.

She loved books even before she could read, so she was very happy in her job as library aide at Timber Ridge Elementary School in Killeen where she had worked for ten years.

Next to her sons, her family and her cats, she loved travel most, and along with six years in Germany and three years in Belgium with her family, she continued her travels to England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales and France. Her favorite place in the world was Ireland and she was hoping to make another trip there soon.

The family will receive visitors from 6-8pm Tuesday January 3, 2017 at the funeral home.
