Our Mother, Mildred (Millie) Ann Griffin
Our mother left us on March 10, 2020. What a life she had, and what impact she had on us all. The others that had the opportunity to know her, were awesome. Millie gave me some advice before I left Alaska in 1997; to keep God first and to "Go Get It". Her words of encouragement guided me through my huge unknown journey. Mildred was that person.
Never diminishing an idea or purpose but only providing guidance on how to simply do it better. Mom always provided, even if it wasn't more than a can of Pepsi and Hot links but, her new towels were off limits! I can go on and on and on about Millie, but for all who had the opportunity to be near her...you already know who she was in this life. Love, life and laughter. But more importantly, our Mom, praying partner, wife and friend to all will be missed. - Chris Wingate
Mildred never missed a dressed day. Her classiness, beautiful smile and pure love never went unmentioned. She was never a boastful person because she understood that her true eternal was in heaven and she proved that through prison ministry in Anchorage Alaska, teaching bible classes. Our mother was extremely gifted with her hands. Be naming her business Millie Silk Floral Arrangements, she was filling orders to make award winning arrangements for weddings, home decorating and countless events.
One of her favorite pastimes was bowling, which she began in the early seventies. Never missed a game or tournament. Millie perfected the game and took the State of Alaska Women's Championship. She didn't stop there. She utilized her skills to teach her husband, Osker Griffin, who became her bowling partner. From this, she taught us "if you want to, you can". - Vanessa Warren
She enjoyed singing. She had the voice of an angel. Our mother loved to laugh. Any opportunity we could put a smile on her face, we made sure to make it happen.
Our mother has now joined her husband, Osker Griffin and those left to cherish the memories are her sons, daughters, grand and great grandchildren, sisters, brothers and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. We Love and will continue to celebrate you Mom. Rest in Heaven.
