On behalf of the Fort Hood Area Habitat for Humanity, we are sorry for your loss. Mrs. Bomer was a lovely woman and always helped us with our affiliate. She will truly be missed. We also received a donation in memory of her and wanted to say thank you for that as well. 

I woke up with Nellie on my mind this morning, even though I had not seen her for years.  I found she had passed and feel Jesus brought her to my mind for a reason.  She was a very dear friend of my mother, Phyllis Layne, and of me when I attended their Sunday School class in Belton.  Now they are together in Heaven.  Nellie was a delight and gifted in so many ways.  Gods blessings to the family and friends of sweet Nellie Bomer.

I have only fond memories of my Aunt Nellie. From a young age, she was always willing to stand for her convictions, literally.  Her sisters loved to test and tease her, knowing she would Always stand up when she heard The Star Spangled Banner (or was it the National Anthem?). They would wait till she was almost asleep, or any inconvenient time, to start singing to make her stand up. As an adult, I admired how she knew her values and made them a priority. I appreciated how she was forthright to tell you the truth in love, not just to say what you wanted to hear, which would have been easier, albeit less popular. You could depend on her to live by and keep her convictions.
I'm so thankful to have had her in my life as a role model. I would love one more chance to pick her brain about all the craziness of this year. However, according to Is. 57:1b-2, God is protecting her from the evil to come and it is now her time to rest in peace.



Aunt Nellie has a special place in my heart.  When I lived in Kileen she always treated my children as if they were her sweet grandkids and loved them like my own mom did.  She always had a smile and an encouraging word.  I do not ever remember her fussing at any of us growing up.  I was so blessed to spend time with her!!!!  I am blessed to receive the beautiful purple quilt she made for my mom. Bernice, and will treasure it forever.  Aunt Nellie I love you and miss you already!  I know you are dancing and laughing with your siblings in heaven!!!

Nellie Bomer was such a sweetheart and humble woman.  She is already and will be so deeply missed.  We rented a building from her for our congregation and she would always praise God for that building being used for God’s glory.  I remember the times playing on her upright piano and chatting for hours. I have seen at least 20 quilts she’s done by hand. What an amazing talent, the true essence of a lady. To Nellie’s family: she would always tell us how she was excited to go to heaven and see her husband. She often wondered why does God have me here for so long.  I would answer her and say we’ve needed you and your love 

Nellie was my "bestest" friend.  I will miss her and will be united with her in heaven, a place she has longed for.  She was one of the kindest, loving people God created. I have many memories, but I recall the many times I went with her to her doctor visits.  She never failed to tell the doctor of her love of Jesus and tell of her faith.  Her pulmonary doctor told her he didn't believe it, but she said that Jesus was going to heal her.  He did.  When the doctor examined her at a later visit, he told her he had never seen her condition healed.  She was not surprised and told him, Jesus had done it and he should reconsider his unbelief. The picture is of her with the signature  quilt I made her for her 80th birthday.  I loved her.
