

Parrie Lee Adams, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025, at the age of 85, in Killeen, Texas. Born on June 16, 1940, in West Palm Beach, Florida, Parrie lived a life rich in love, faith, and dedication to her family and community.
Parrie was preceded in death by her parents, Henry L. and Effie Stephens, siblings Henry Stephens Jr., Kelvin R. Stephens, Martha Miller, Marian Nuwakadu as well as her loving husband, Walter Lee Adams Jr.
She is survived by her devoted sister, Tangela Lewis (Ronald), Colorado Springs, Colorado, her sons Michael A. Adams (Darcie), Everett, Washington, Walter L. Adams III (Svetlana), San Antonio, her cherished grandson, Dmitry Adams, and Rodney E. Adams (Terri), Killeen. She also has a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and several family members and friends. All held a special place in her heart.
On July 27, 1962, Parrie married the love of her life, Walter Lee Adams Jr., at Fort Hood, Texas. Their marriage, which lasted 36 wonderful years, was a testament to their love and commitment to one another and their family. Together, they built a legacy of love that continues to inspire those who knew them.
Parrie’s educational journey began with her high school graduation, followed by college courses at Del Mar Community College in Corpus Christi, Texas. She dedicated herself to her career, working at JCPenney's and Handi-Dans, before moving on to a position at a bank in Corpus Christi. Her path took her to Frankfurt, Germany, where she worked for American Express for nearly five years. The family later returned to Killeen, where she continued her banking career before returning to American Express in Wiesbaden, Germany. Eventually, she returned to Fort Hood and worked at the Fort Hood Credit Union for many years before retiring in 2021. Even in retirement, Parrie found joy in serving her community as a crossing guard for Killeen Independent School District.
A devoted member of the Bibleway Missionary Baptist Church and Greater Vision Community Church, Parrie's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She attended Sunday services and Wednesday night prayer sessions with unwavering dedication, drawing strength and inspiration from her beliefs.
Parrie’s passions extended deeply into her love for gardening, where she spent countless weekends nurturing her flowers and lawn with tender care. She found joy in the simple act of planting and cultivating beauty around her home. Her culinary talents were renowned; she had a magical ability to transform humble ingredients into mouth watering meals that would leave family and friends in awe. Her sweet potato pies, a family favorite during Christmas and Thanksgiving, were eagerly anticipated by all.
A special message of gratitude is extended to Mrs. Barbara Page, a devoted friend and sister in Christ, who faithfully stood by Parrie, bringing comfort and companionship throughout her life.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Parrie's life at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home, located at 1615 South Ft. Hood St., on August 4, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
