

Patricia Rucker Vassaur, born on August 29, 1951, to Billie Faye and H.F. Rucker, passed away surrounded by family and loved ones. Patricia was a proud graduate of Killeen High School, Class of 1969, and she went on to dedicate 30 years to civil service at Fort Hood, where her distinguished career touched the lives of many. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents H.F. and Billie Faye Rucker. She is survived by her husband Tom, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her two siblings Marth Rucker (Art, deceased) and Royce Rucker (Patti), as well as many other family members.
Patricia was a devoted wife to Tom Vassaur and a loving mother and grandmother. She had two children, Billy Turner and Tami Barclay (Trever); three bonus children, Julie Mayrant (Jerry), Jeff Vassaur (Cynthia), and Greg Vassaur (Paula); beloved grandchildren: Tyler Turner (Kaylynn), Mackenzy Turner, Kade Barclay, Emma Barclay, Jake Mayrant, Felicia Fife (Bryan), Mario Reyes, Olivia Vassaur, and Meryn Vassaur; two adored great-grandchildren, Evelyn Turner and Valerie Fife, a cherished niece, Dusty Ham (Lonnie); great-niece Keeley Ham and many loved cousins and friends.
Patricia married her husband Tom Vassaur August 26, 2000. In retirement, Patricia and Tom enjoyed traveling and capturing priceless memories, and spending treasured moments with family. They loved embarking on cruises, especially when visiting Alaska. They enjoyed the beauty Alaska offers, and whale watching was their favorite excursion. Together, Patricia and Tom, spent countless hours cheering on the Houston Astros, watching Hallmark movies, and planning family gatherings. Patricia loved all the holidays, but hosting and watching family participate in her famous, highly competitive, Easter egg hunts was by far her favorite.
Patricia was a committed leader and member of First United Methodist Church (FUMC) Killeen, where her faith and dedication to service inspired many. Patricia was a proud member of The Navigator’s Sunday School Class, as well as a devoted leader of Son n Fun small group ministry. Patricia also made the Walk to Emmaus, a turning point in her life. Her devotion to Jesus and sharing his word was paramount in her life. Her generous spirit touched all who knew her.
Along with her love for traveling, family, and her church, Patricia loved serving with her sorority. She was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi. Patricia valued her special time with her sorority sisters during meetings, special gatherings, and even adventures.
Patricia’s life will be celebrated with a visitation on Tuesday, October 15th, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 16th, at 11:00 AM at FUMC Killeen, followed by a burial at 1:00 PM at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.

Patricia's legacy of love, faith, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
