

Raymond, a 1955 graduate of Olean High School, received an academic scholarship to Saint Bonaventure University in Allegany, NY. Upon graduation he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He served in Germany, Vietnam, and the United States. He graduated from the Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the Command and General Staff College, and the Army War College. He earned a Masters of Public Administration from Shippensburg State College. He retired from the U.S. Army as a Colonel after 30 years of service. He received many awards among them the Legion of Merit (with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster) and Bronze Star Medal (with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster). He was an active member and past president of the Harker Heights Kiwanis Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Jessie Kolin. He is survived by his wife Alice Kolin of 52 years, sisters Dolores (Marshall) Learn of West Chester, PA, Alberta Petty of Fort Pierce, FL, and Carol (Lynn) Shaffer of Olean, NY; and Children COL (Ret) Glenn (Susan) Kolin of Leavenworth, KS, Audrey (Michael) Burton of Flower Mound, TX, Shawn Kolin of Pflugerville, TX and Gene (Tamra) Kolin of Tomball, TX, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be at the Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen on Thursday 10 Sep 2015 from 5:30-7pm, with rosary following. A memorial Service will be held on 11 September 2015 at 10 am, at Saint Paul Chong Hasang Catholic Church in Harker Heights; burial with full military honors will follow at the Central Texas State Veterans' Cemetery in Killeen.
