

A Mass of Christian Burial for Reuben Garcia Tamez, 82, of Killeen will be 9am Saturday December 12, 2015 at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, 2903 E Rancier Ave. Killeen TX. Burial with full military honors will follow Killeen Memorial Park, 3800 Lake Road, Killeen, Texas, with a reception following at the Shilo Inn Suites Hotel, 3701 South W S Young Drive, Killeen, Texas. A humble, quiet and respectful man who never liked to miss a Cameron YOE football game, Mr. Reuben Garcia Tamez passed away on December 7, 2015, with his family by his side. He was born in Cameron, Texas in 1932 to Ysidoro and Maria Tamez. Mr. Tamez was a resident of Killeen, Texas for more than 48 years. He served 20 years in the US Army, was a proud member of the US Army Special Forces, known as the Green Berets, Special Forces Mobile Strike Force Command, or MIKE Force, team member, Vietnam Vet and Special Forces Association Charter Member. His proudest accomplishment was his family. Mr. Tamez was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters Felicitas Marin and Herminia Tamez, and brother Daniel Tamez. Mr. Tamez is survived by his extraordinary wife of 56 years, Mary; 3 children, Rita Tamez, of Dallas, Lydia Hall, and her husband Michael Hall, of Huntsville, and Reuben Cruz Tamez of Houston; four grandchildren, Nicolas Tamez, Giuliana Tamez, Benjamin Hall and Christian Hall. The Tamez family expresses profound gratitude to all medical staff at Metroplex Hospital, especially the compassionate care of the ICU nursing and physician staff.The Tamez family will receive visitors on Friday, December 11, from 6pm until 8pm at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, 1615 South Fort Hood Road, Killeen, Texas. A Rosary will be recited at 7pm.
