November 5, 1934 – May 29, 2025
Ruth Edeltroud Bruggeman, 90, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025, at a nursing facility in Belton, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of joy, creativity, and boundless love. Born Edeltroud Ruth Wolf on November 5, 1934, in Sömmerda, Thüringen, Germany, Ruth grew up during the challenges of World War II as the daughter of Max and Stefania Wolf. Raised alongside her siblings, Inge and Hermann, and often in the care of her beloved grandmother, Ruth’s early resilience paved the way for a vibrant life filled with passion and warmth.
At 18, Ruth courageously sought a new beginning, traveling from Germany to the American Zone of Berlin, eventually settling in Landsberg, West Germany. There, she met the love of her life, U.S. Air Force Airman Dale. They married and, for 58 joyful years, built a beautiful life together in Texas, USA, where Ruth’s infectious smile and zest for life blossomed.
Ruth lived with an exuberant spirit, guided by her Methodist faith, which brought her comfort and strength. She was an avid quilter and oil painter, crafting stunning works that showcased her artistic flair. In her younger years, she twirled across dance floors with Dale and friends, and her competitive edge earned her numerous bowling trophies as part of a local team. Ruth’s green thumb brought life to her home, where she lovingly tended roses and African violets, among other plants, creating a haven of beauty and tranquility. Her warmth, resourcefulness, and ever-present smile touched everyone she met, leaving a lasting impression of kindness and joy.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Dale, in March 2014, her parents, Max and Stefania, her brother, Hermann, and her sister, Inge.
Ruth is survived by her son, Ron Bruggeman of Harker Heights; three daughters, Debra Hoffman and husband Bob of Salado, Pamela Black and Jacqueline Decker, both of Harker Heights; two grandchildren, Michael Hoffman and April of Union, Kentucky, and Jason Hoffman and Sarah of Salado; and five great-grandchildren, Aiden, Allison, Leland, Lauren, and Lily.
Ruth’s radiant spirit and love for life will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Her remarkable journey and unwavering positivity will never be forgotten.
