She was born March 29, 1940, in Miagao, Philippines, and was the daughter of Sergio Machon and Rosalia Castor Machon.
Ruth worked over 20 years in civil service as engineering administrative support and later as a contract specialist. Upon retirement, she was presented the Commander’s Award for Civilian Service by the Department of the Army.
Ruth and her husband, Orlando Sr., appreciated time with their family through many vacation trips, beach gatherings, and late night mah-jongg games. They traveled extensively, visiting six out of the seven continents (Ruth decided that Antarctica was too cold to complete the set).
She is survived by her children, Edna, Jay, and Orlando Jr.; grandchildren Jaynie, and Evie; son-in-law Thomas Graves; daughter-in-law Elane Cayetano Jamandre; loving siblings; and an abundance of extended family and friends.
A Committal Service will be held at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 TX-195, Killeen, Texas, on March 26, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ruth C. Jamandre’s memory to your local PBS station.
