

Scott Richer, 62, passed away on August 31, 2026. Born June 6, 1964, in Oneida, Scott carried with him a steady devotion to the people he loved and the responsibilities he took on throughout his life. He lived most of his life in Oneida, but recently moved to Killeen, TX with his daughter and family.
Scott graduated from Oneida High School in Oneida, NY. Soon after, he joined the Army, where he served as a mechanic on tanks—work that called for discipline, persistence, and an unwavering commitment to doing things the right way. Following his military service, he continued a life of hard work as a production line worker in numerous factories, earning respect through his reliability and honest effort.
Scott was a loving father and grandfather whose devotion to family remained at the center of his life. He is survived by his daughter, Traci Baum and husband Mike; his son, Brett Richer; his grandsons, Ethan, Jaccob, Jackson, and Benjamin; his granddaughter, Lenora; and his sister, Robin Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Helena Richer, and his brothers, Russell Richer and James Richer.
In quieter moments, Scott found enjoyment in the worlds that sparked his imagination and curiosity. He loved Star Wars, Legos, sci-fi movies, and history—interests that brought him comfort, entertainment, and a sense of wonder that stayed with him through the years. Scott's greatest joy were his grandchildren. He loved spending time with them and taking them to do fun things.
Scott will be remembered with respect for his devoted heart, his honest character, and the steady, hardworking way he cared for his family and met each day.
