Sherry (Floyd) Brown, known to those who meant the most to her as Nene, passed away on July 3, 2026, at the age of 70. A resident of Killeen for 47 years, Sherry was born in Holden, West Virginia, on April 17, 1956. She married Rickey Brown in 1974 and moved to Texas in 1979, where she raised her four children.
Nene was the most selfless mother, not just to her biological children, but to any child in the community who was in need. Throughout her life, she helped anyone and everyone she could, never wanting anything for herself. We are reminded of the beautiful sentiment that, “Mother is the name for God on the lips and hearts of children.” Truly, there are countless others whom she mothered through the years who will feel this immense loss.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Pastor George Donald Floyd and Mary (Adkins) Floyd; her sisters, Jacqueline Asbury and Debra Canterbury; and, most recently, her beloved twin sister, Terri Cornell, who passed away on April 24, 2026.
Sherry is survived by her husband of 52 years, Rickey Brown; her daughter, Tracey Brown of Killeen; her son, Rickey Brown II of Temple; her son, Eric Brown of Kyle; and her daughter, Shnoa Yi of Killeen. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren: Tiffany, Sarah, Autumn, Gabe, Yongjin, Sujin, Madison, and Taevion; and three great-grandchildren: Emmalynn, River, and Azalea. She is additionally survived by her beloved sister-in-law and lifelong best friend, Georgette Pike; her loving siblings; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends back home in West Virginia and across the country. Though she has left an irreplaceable void in our hearts, the warmth of her memory will remain with us forever.
A public viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, 2026. The funeral service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2026. Both services will be held at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, located at 1615 South Fort Hood Street, Killeen, Texas 76542.
Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Calvary Baptist Church Garden of Memories Cemetery on Highway 195 in Killeen.
Flowers or gifts may be sent directly to the funeral home, or you may contact her son, Rick Brown, directly.
