Shirley J Agnew

Shirley June Vaughn Agnew passed away at the age of 88 on October 18, 2024 after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born April 21, 1936 in Dayton, TN to Hershel and Dixie Hawkins Vaughn and spent her childhood in Oneonta, AL. She married Ted Agnew in 1955 and spent many years moving wherever the army sent Ted until he retired from the army at Fort Hood in 1967. In 1972, they moved to Copperas Cove, Texas when they took ownership of Cove Discount Furniture along with managing many rental properties until they retired in 1980.

Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ted Agnew, parents Hershel and Dixie Vaughn of Oneonta, AL., brother Jack Vaughn of Billings, MT, and brother Floyd Vaughn of Oneonta, AL.

Those left to cherish her memories are her daughter Patricia Young of Livingston, TX, daughter Pamela Hull and husband Lonnie (Luper) of Longview, TX, son Joseph Agnew and wife Katie of Killeen, TX, daughter Debra LeClair and life partner Julian Mercado and son John Agnew of Copperas Cove. Her grandchildren are Tara Young Burse and life partner Myesha of Livingston, TX. Diana Young of Gatesville, TX, Kyle Hull and wife Tiffani of Owasso, OK, Lisa Wright and husband B.J. of Pflugerville, TX, Devin Agnew of Copperas Cove, TX, Kolby Hull and wife Lacy of Conroe, TX, Chelbi Beal and husband Nathan of Nolanville, TX, Cheyenne Agnew, Kelci LeClair, Connor Mercado and Samuel Mercado of Copperas Cove, TX, as well as 8 great grandchildren. Her beloved sisters are Betty Kent and Jo Gilliland of Oneonta, AL, and Carol Ann Spears of Boaz, AL and many nieces and nephews.

Her strong spirit and caring nature will continue in those who loved her. May her soul find eternal peace and rest.

A Graveside Service for Shirley will be held Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen has been entrusted with services.
