Shirley Ann Barton Pipkin, age 62, passed away at her home near Florence, TX on November 18, 2015. She was born on August 11, 1953, in Heidelberg, Germany to Howard C. and Lois M. Barton. She was a graduate of Killeen High School, Class of 1971. While growing professionally, Shirley was first employed at the Lone Star Gas Company and then advanced her career in the Killeen Independent School District. No matter what the task, her strong work ethic flourished.
Shirley was a remarkable woman, an incredible mother, and a loving wife. She had a passion for baking, making sure to always share that gift with everyone. Shirley knew no strangers, of the human or animal world. She selflessly and generously cared for others, both family and friends alike, always putting others’ needs before her own. Shirley enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, and was a devoted Aggie fan. She lit up the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Larry W. Barton, and her beloved chocolate Labrador, Cabella.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph “Bill” W. Pipkin; daughters, Tara M. Hosch and Tamara L. Brown (Hosch); a sister, Glenda K. Bush (Barton), and seven “granddogs”.
Visitation will be at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen, TX on Sunday, November 22, 2015 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with recitation of the Rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. Mass will take place at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Killeen, TX on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 10:00 AM with interment to follow at the Salado Cemetery.
