He was born on November 6, 1932, in Pittsburg, Illinois to James and Della Switzer Orr. He served in Army and Retired after 20 years of service.
He graduated from college with a degree in both Criminal Justice and Culinary Arts. Worked for 2 years as a Dietitian at Loyola University of Chicago, and Baylor Scott and White Hospital Temple TX. He then started working for H Moving and Storage up until he retired at the age of 82. He was highly active in the bowling community. He served as President for the original Killeen Fort Hood Men’s Bowling Association and was the 1st President of the New combined Central Texas Bowling Association. Which he and other dedicated members helped to organize. He was inducted into the Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1998. He worked with the Youth Bowler at Hallmark Lanes along with wife Johnnie Orr. He enjoyed his bowling and playing softball. One thing for sure, he loved his St. Louis Cardinals. His other joy in life was cooking and boy was he great at it.
Preceded in death was his father and mother James and Della Orr. 4 brothers Rudolph, Elmer, Thomas, Sai and a sister Ethel. His wife’s Johnnie V Baker Orr (Oct 1, 1955- Dec 3, 1993) and Michelle Midcalf Orr (Nov 5, 1994 –Nov 10, 2013) and One grandchild Chris Cline.
He was survived by his Wife Hazel McBride Orr (July 1, 2015) and his children Kathy (Larry) Koehne, Vernon “Bubba” (Dena) Orr, Jeffery (Merrilea)Orr, Sonny Sleitweiler, Stepson David McBride, Bill (Millie)McBride. 8 Grandchildren Larry “Bucky” Koehne, Keith (Shannon)Koehne, Kristin (JD) Linker, Aaron Orr, Jeffery “JJ” (Kassie) Orr, James “Jim” (Chelsea)Orr, Lauren (Josh)Lloyd, and Tiffany (Kyle)Pospisil. 14 Great Grandchildren Athena, Aarion, Ayden, Briana, Skyler, Jaelynn, Kailey, Justin, Jacob, Landon, Willow, Shiloh, Luka and Violet. 1 Great Great Grandchild Eli.
