

Veronika is survived by her daughter Barbara Corbin Latchaw of Grand Prairie, Texas; her grandson Corbin Michael Latchaw and his wife Laina Juarez Latchaw of Rowlett, Texas; her sister-in-law Mamie Lu Corbin Futch of Steinhatchee, Fla.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband M.Sgt./E8 Hollis Corbin of Killeen, Texas; her beloved son, Robert Allen Corbin of De Valle, Texas; her brother Johann Roth and his wife Brigitta, of Berlin, Germany. In addition, her Sister-in-laws: Bertie Corbin Hines; Susie May Corbin Keene, Pauline Corbin Ridgeway; Brother-in-laws: Barry Corbin, Joe H Corbin and Wallace Corbin all from Cross City, Fla area.
Veronika was born on June 16, 1924 in Feketic, Yugoslavia to parents Johann (from Feketic) and Veronika Kiltz Roth (from Seketic). In 1940, with her brother was taken from her village by the Nazi’s to work in a labor camp. They escaped and made their way to Germany seek help from her father’s friends. While in Germany she worked as a house maid, studied to be a nun in the Lutheran church, and later worked in an orphanage where she obtains a nursing certification. After the war, in 1947 she met Hollis Corbin, a young Army PFC from Cross City, Florida and married him on September 26th, 1951 in Erlangen, Germany. After tours at Ft. Benning, Ga; Presidio Ca: Korea, Ft. Hood, Tx and Germany the couple returned to Ft. Hood where Hollis retired after 20 years of service in 1965. Veronika then worked in Post Exchange, fitting soldiers for their combat boots during the Vietnam era. After many years at the PX, she become the manager for several apartments in Killeen, eventually ending her working career as a beloved caretaker for the Williams family, of Harker Heights. Veronika then turned to charitable work as a member for Women’s auxiliary for VFW post 9192 & 3892 and the Bob Gilmore Senior Center of Killeen.
Veronika will be remembered for being a supportive army wife, a great mom, beloved grandmother, and a close friend—loved by all she met.
A brief viewing is scheduled for 11 am on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 in the Chapel Mausoleum at Killeen Memorial Park, with services to follow. The family would like to thank the Founder’s Plaza staff for the wonderful care and support they provided over the past year. Donations can be sent in her name to the charity of your choice.
