Retired Sergeant First Class Vicente L. Deocampo, a loving husband, devoted father, and friend, suddenly passed away on February 14, 2024. Lovingly known as “Ben”, Vicente was born Iloilo, Philippines on April 05, 1945. In 1971, he married the love of his life, Magdalena, and moved on to Guam, USA. There, Ben joined the United States Army in 1974. They remarried in the Catholic church at Fort Hood, Texas in 1978 and shared a beautiful loving marriage of 53 years in Killeen, Texas.
He was a dedicated husband and father. He was fond of music and dancing, and usually the center of attention at Filipino gatherings throughout the years. During his military service, Ben deployed several times to different parts of the world like Korea, Germany, and served in the Gulf War before returning to Fort Hood and retiring in 1994. After retirement, he worked as a military contractor in Saudi Arabia and Haiti for a few years before returning to Killeen, Texas working for the City of Killeen and retiring after 10 years.
Ben was kind, loving, funny and dedicated to his family. He was a friend to most and would help anyone in need. He will be missed dearly and remembered every day.
He is survived by his loving wife, Magdalena Pedroso Deocampo; daughters Maria Victoria D. Clarke, Jennifer Deocampo, and son Juan Carlos Mestre; sisters Cristina Delicana, Herberta Enano, Excelsa, and Gladys Deocampo; brothers Efrain Deocampo, Salvador Deocampo, and Arlene Deocampo; granddaughter Maria Plumley; and several nieces and nephews in the United States, Philippines, and Australia.
