

Virtudes Yolanda Garcia, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on September 10, 2026, at the age of 96, surrounded by family. Born on September 21, 1929, in Jimenez, Coahuila, Mexico, she grew up with a deep sense of family, faith, and determination that shaped every chapter of her life.
She devoted her life to her husband and family and approached each day with kindness, humor, and a quiet strength that inspired everyone around her. Her greatest joy was her family, and she poured her heart into her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, celebrating every milestone and offering unwavering support.
She will be remembered for her humor, generosity, resilience, and fabulous cooking. Her presence made ordinary moments feel special, and her legacy lives on in the people she loved so fiercely.
Virtudes is survived by her children, Christina Flores, Eduardo G. Garcia, Norma Shelley (Gene), Lydia Garcia (Jill), Elizabeth Diaz (Eddie), and Rebecca Garcia (Jay), grandchildren Pancho Flores (Emma), Sergio Flores (Michelle), Jessica Garcia (Aaron), Kristopher Garcia, Anthony Shelley (Natalie), Kristi Shelley (Dwayne), Alexandra Blas (Ryan), Reagan Davies (Ethan), Evan Clift, and Weston Moore and numerous great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband SFC Eduardo H. Garcia, siblings Socorro Barrera Villareal, Dora Musquiz Barrera, Sapopan Morton Barrera, Norma Reyna Barrera, and Gustavo Barrera Villareal.
A service honoring her life will be held at 11:00 am on September 21, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church 2903 E. Rancier Ave., Killeen with repast immediately following. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or any Veteran Charity of choice.
