Alan Arthur Hemberger was born March 1, 1948 to John and Grace Hemberger in Trenton, New Jersey, and grew up in Wellesley, Massachusetts. He passed away October 20, 2013 in Chatham, Massachusetts. Alan served his country proudly in Vietnam. After returning to the States, he finished his bachelor’s degree at Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts. It was in Boston that he met Jane Kochman, and they were married for 39 years.

Alan worked all over the country for his entire career as an excellent newscaster, mostly as a television anchorman. He was widely respected for his professionalism and kindness. Alan was an avid Boston sports fan, a loyal citizen of the “Red Sox Nation”. He also loved all kinds of music, especially Elvis Presley. After retirement, he fulfilled a life-long dream by moving to Cape Cod, his favorite place on earth since childhood.

Alan is survived by Jane and their five children, Ahren Hemberger, Christian Hemberger and wife, Laura, Corey Hemberger, John Hemberger and fiancée, Amber Smith, and Daniel Hemberger and wife, Brittany; grandchildren, Spencer, Jett, and Rebekah, with another grandson on the way; brothers, Richard Hemberger and wife, Mary Lou, and William Hemberger and wife, Susan; several nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, Alan would have been pleased to have donations made to Purple Heart or the Wounded Warriors Project.

Alan Hemberger was a VERY sincere & genuinely NICE man...Of the times friends & I were invited guests of KTRK 13 to watch LIVE in-studio newscasts, Alan was always one of the NICEST on-air personalities there. In fact, one time at the end of a newscast, he actually autographed a "script-sheet" given out at the beginning to follow as we watched. I still have it to this day...My sincere condolences to the Hemberger Family on the loss of a WONDERFUL man...Alan will be truly missed. Gerard Piccolo & Family (Houston, TX)
