Betty grew up and went to school in McComb Mississippi. She was working as a secretary at the McComb airport when she met a young airman who had just returned from WWII, named Bob Sibley. Bob was working as an airplane mechanic at the McComb airport when he was smitten by her and his life was changed forever. They were married December 2, 1948. Bob rode an old Indian motorcycle for transportation and occasionally flew a Stearman biplane and considered getting into crop dusting, but Betty put a stop to all that. Not long after they were married they moved to Houston and have lived in the area ever since.
Betty never met a stranger and her laughter was contagious. She was always ready to share a story from her childhood or adventures with her husband Bob. She was willing to share an encouraging word, message, or meal with everyone who knew her. She was a long time member of Humble Area First Baptist Church in Humble, Texas.
Betty was loved greatly by her family and leaves a lasting legacy of faith and love. Her greatest desire was for everyone she met to have a personal relationship with our Savior, Jesus Christ. Her love of our Lord and her family were what made Betty’s light shine for all who knew her. The legacy she created will live on in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as they cling to hope that they will all be reunited in heaven someday.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband Robert L. “Bob” Sibley, her sisters Peggy Regina, Gloria Marsalis, and brother Hailey Boyd Jr.
Betty is survived by her two sons, Robert Kenneth “Kenny” Sibley (Janet) and Brian Keith Sibley (Carolyn), her three granddaughters, Kim McClain (Brian), Kelli Orcutt (Tim), and Summer Sibley (Erich), and her three great-grand daughters, Paige, Bryna, and Macie McClain. She is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
