Brett was born on March 24, 1966, in Bloomington, Illinois, to Don and Norma McMath, where grew up with his sister, Brenda. He spent his early years in Bloomington before relocating with his family to Kingwood, Texas, in March 1978.
Brett graduated from New Caney High School in 1985. His lifelong interest in airplanes led him to attend the International Aviation Travel Academy. Upon graduation, he began a career in the airline industry, first working for Delta Airlines in Atlanta, Georgia, and later for United Airlines in Indianapolis.
Eventually, Brett settled back in Houston, Texas, where he worked in outside sales for MAN Diesel, specializing in commercial ship engine parts. His role took him as far as Copenhagen, Denmark, for annual training at the company's home office.
In 2019, Brett retired and purchased property in Spanish Cove near Crosby, Texas. He enjoyed traveling—often planning trips with his parents. He had a deep love for restoring cars, and as a dedicated NASCAR fan, he frequently attended races with his father.
Brett maintained lifelong friendships, many of which date back to his high school years. In October 2022, Brett met the love of his life, Marina, in the Philippines. Marina joined him in the United States in March 2024 and shortly after, in a beautiful ceremony, they were married on April 4, 2024. Together, they made their home in Spanish Cove, Crosby.
Brett was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather. He is survived by his loving wife Marina; his father, stepmother, sister, two nephews and their families.
Brett's warmth, adventurous spirit, and enduring friendships will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
A memorial service for Brett will be held Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Strawbridge United Methodist Church, 5629 Kingwood Drive, Kingwood, TX 77345.
