Burton Henry Stewart

Burton Henry Stewart, Jr., age 93 of Kingwood Texas passed away on Sunday April 25, 2021. Burton was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather and brother. Burton was born October 22, 1927 in Tower, Minnesota to the late Burton and Eunice (Aubin) Stewart. Burton was survived by his son John Stewart and daughter-in-law Susie Stewart, Grandchildren Christopher, Michelle (Stewart) Chapman, Kirk, Barry Jurek, Erik Jurek. Great-grandchildren, Kayla, Taira, Christopher, Bethany, William, Kaitlyn, Cassy, Scarlet, Joshua, Luke, DeAnn, Katelynn, John and Helen. Great-great-granddaughter Isabelle.
Burton enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1945, while in training at Paris Island the Japanese surrendered and WWII ended. Burton was stationed in San Francisco in 1949 and met the love of his life. Burton and Nora were married on December 2, 1950. October 1951 while Burton was on a troop transport ship to the Korean War, Burton and Nora’s first child, Rita M. (Stewart) Jurek (October 1, 1951 – January 28, 2021), was born. After the Korean war, while stationed in Chicago, Burton and Nora had their second child. In 1959 Burton left the Marine Corps, enlisted in the U.S. Army and attended programmer’s school. In 1968 Burton headed off to war again, in Vietnam.
After returning, Burton retired from the U.S. Army in 1969 and finally settled in Springfield Va., working another 15 years for the government. In 1996 Burton and Nora moved to Niceville Florida then in 2010 moved to Kingwood Texas to undergo cancer treatment. Burton’s wife Nora passed away in 2016 due to complications of a stroke and Burton, in 2019, moved into Reunion Court of Kingwood. Burton wished to thank Tonya Stewart, granddaughter-in-law, for all you did for him. Burton’s family would like to thank the staff of Reunion Court of Kingwood (Independent living) and for the last 5 days of his life the medical professionals and staff of Reliant Hospice and Reunion Court of Kingwood Assisted Living for their care of Burton and support given to his family.
Visitation will be at Kingwood Funeral Home on May 5, 2021 for family from 4pm-5pm, and for public from 5pm-7pm. Burton’s funeral will be at 10:30am, Thursday, May 6, 2021 at St. Martha’s Catholic Church, 4301 Woodridge Parkway, Porter, Texas 77365. Burton’s remains will be interred at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. Instead of flowers the family would like donations sent to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or a charity of your choosing.
