Nancy & Family, so sorry for your loss. I got to know Butch on my visits to the FMC Houston office and was excited to meet someone I shared a last name with! Since we were both B Lappin we often received each other's e-mails by mistake which just gave us more opportunity to keep in touch.

Lappin is not a common last name and Butch was kind enough to send me a family tree he had of the Lappin family. I enjoyed getting to know Butch & was saddened to hear of his passing.

Ms Nancy, Butch helped us all at FMC. He was such a good worker. But I must tell you he and I were 2 hard headed guys that went toe to toe more than a few times trying to get things done "our way". Butch was a formidable adversary and a good friend. I will miss him and the arguments!  df

Butch was a good man, a hearty laugher, and fellow that an engineer new to the oil patch was lucky to learn from.   

I was saddened to hear of his passing, and will miss him.  I pray God's comfort strengthens his family in this most difficult of times.

I was so sorry to hear that your husband had suddenly passed away.  I can only imagine what a shock this has been and what a re-adjustment it will require in the life of you and your children.  Please know that you are in our thoughts frequently and that you have many co-workers who would like to offer any support they can provide in these difficult days, me included.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Butch's family.  I have worked with Butch over the past 6 years and I would see him almost every work day.  Butch would always have his clever morning greeting when I saw him.  He was loved and respected by all of his family here at FMC and I will surely miss him.  God's Peace be with him and his family.

I work with Nancy and have had many calls from Butch and dinner at their house but what I always heard was his respect and love for his family and wife Nancy they were always #1.

I worked with Buch in the mid 80"s at FMC in Rock Springs,Wyoming. I broke him out as a service hand,and spent countless hours on location together. We shared some good times at the Flaming Gorge, times he would never let me forget. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this time of your loss.

I met Butch in Rock Springs, Wyoming as we worked together there in the late 80's. For me, Butch was not just a wonderful co-worker.....he was a dear friend and I will miss him.

I knew Butch as a sincere, straightforward person who always spoke what was on his mind and always had time for his coworkers.  Butch was a caring person.  I remember him giving me advice when I became a father.  One particular day when I was particularly haggard due to lack of sleep, he recounted the times he held his child in his arms though the night and went on to give child care suggestions!  I would like express my deepest condolences upon Butch's passing.
