Born in 1951 in Florence, Alabama to Ruth and Irvin Bondurant, Charlie spent most of his childhood in North East, Pennsylvania. After graduating from Virginia Tech, he entered the mechanical engineering field and spent over 40 years serving as a project manager for various infrastructure and industrial projects. An avid history buff, Charlie had a special interest in the Civil War era and amassed a carefully curated collection of memorabilia from that time period, his favorite of which being his collection of black powder guns. Charlie spent countless hours maintaining these firearms and making ammunition. He was never happier than when he was at a competition with his shooting buddies getting to use his guns and traveled around the United States to various competitions every year. Charlie was also an avid hunter, a passion that he passed down to his two boys.
Charlie is survived by his devoted wife, Bertie (Rankin) Bondurant, beloved sons Blake Bondurant and Brent Bondurant, daughter-in-law Lindsey (Hovland) Bondurant, grandson John Blake Bondurant, sister Amy Bridges and brother-in-law Alan Bridges, and several nieces and nephews.
