Deborah Lynn Furdak, 64, of Kingwood, Texas, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on April 28, 2016. After her valiant fight with laryngeal cancer in 2009, Debbie’s battle resumed with the return of her cancer in 2015. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family and friends carried her another year where she suffered multiple strokes leading to her passing. Yet even throughout her own struggles with cancer, she reached out to others to help in their own battles.
Deborah was born in Poughkeepsie, New York, on January 16, 1952, to Sophie and Vincent Germano and was one of 4 beautiful children. She was the second eldest of 3 sisters, Veronica Mack and Pamela Kutchback and 1 brother, Wayne Germano. She attended Poughkeepsie High School and was a true child of the 60’s.
Debbie thoroughly enjoyed horticulture and had a green thumb to make anything grow. Her backyard was her sanctuary full of thriving green lush plants and flowers. In addition to having a green thumb, she raised two children, Crystal Kohn and Rogie Furdak, who adored their mother to the moon and back. Her husband, Roger Furdak, endured all the trials and tribulations with Debbie and never left her side. She has 4 Papillion dogs that she treated like her babies and ate better than most humans. They adored their mom as well.
She was known for her ease in frequent conversation with everyone, even total strangers. Her sisters recollect even as a child she possessed the gift of gab with her outgoing personality and entertaining sense of humor. Throughout her life, she was known to be the life of the party and won the friendships and hearts of many who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Roger Furdak; her daughter Crystal Kohn; her son, Rogie Furdak; father, Vincent Germano.
The family wishes to thank all those who cared for her during her illness.
Pallbearers for Deborah will include Roger Furdak, Rogie Furdak, Daniel Kohn, John Kutchback, Justin Kutchback, and Randall Watkins. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Pastor Lee and the congregation at The First Assembly of God.
