

Dona Lee Whitaker Webb, 85, of Kingwood, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025. Born on September 18, 1939, in Van Alstyne, Texas, Dona was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She graduated from the North Texas State College (now University of North Texas) and dedicated her life to her family and to teaching and touching the lives of many students until her retirement when she turned her attention to her beloved grandchildren.
Dona is survived by her husband of 63 years, Foster, her children, daughter Julie and husband Gordon Holekamp, son Mark and his partner Genaline Escalante, her grandchildren Thomas, Mackenzie, Parker, Kendall, Clark and Daniel, and siblings Byron and wife Twila Whitaker and Mary Ann and husband Cecil May and brother-in-law Joe and wife Nancy Webb.
She was predeceased by her parents Byron Sr. and Billie Whitaker, in-laws Lonnie and Juanita Webb and her nephews Michael and Jeremy May.
Dona, affectionately known as “the Little General”, had a passion for telling stories of her 47 moves following the love of her life as he pursued his career, the last of which happened 27 years after the 46th move. Dona was a master at making every new location a home, especially with the help of Ethan Allen furniture and decor. Her kindness, sense of humor, infectious laugh, and generosity will be remembered by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 3 PM at the Kingwood Funeral Home, followed by burial on Friday, June 6, 2025 at 11 AM in College Station at the Aggie Field of Honor & Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Van Alstyne United Methodist Church or Humble Area Assistance Ministries.
