Staff Sergeant Enrico Antonio Rojo was born April 12, 1987 to Miguel and Martha Rojo in Houston, Texas. He was tragically lost on December 19, 2016 while doing what he did best; being a selfless individual. He was a beloved son, cherished brother, adored grandson, a husband-to-be, and a friend to all. Enrico was not the tallest, the fastest, or the strongest but he was a hero; A man who thought more about others than of himself. He was a man who was willing and ready to die for his country. He was always willing to help a perfect stranger in need despite of his personal safety. Enrico graduated from Humble High in 2005 and was a proud member of the Humble Wildcats football team from 2002 to 2004. He was a passionate instrumentalist. He briefly played the saxophone in the middle school band. One Christmas day, during his teen years, Enrico got his first electric guitar and began a love affair with heavy metal music and even put together a rock band. He later took up lessons on the acoustic guitar and drums. In 2009, he joined a very elite group; The US Marines. He graduated from “Boot Camp” at MCRD San Diego, California. In 2010 he served at Twentynine Palms Marine Base for four years active and three years in the reserves. He worked his way through the ranks and became Staff Sergeant. In 2011 he served his country overseas in Afghanistan and he was wounded in action. He received a number of medals and awards including the Purple Heart. In 2013 Enrico met the love of his life Michelle Medina, a beautiful lady from Palm Springs, California. In 2014 Enrico became a certified mechanic after attending UTI Technical School. Later he attended California Baptist University and worked to obtain a degree in aviation science; he loved flying. He obtained his pilot license and his instruments rating. He was only three semesters short of his degree. He was a skydiver and thrill seeker. He had a zest for life that all around him felt. He was truly one of the good guys. Enrico was loved by all who met him and will be truly missed, but we all know this is not good bye; this is just a short “until we meet again.” Enrico is survived by his parents, Miguel and Martha, of Humble, Texas; his sister Sgt. Krystal Rojo, of Camp Pendleton, California; his brother Giovanni Rojo also of Humble, Texas; loving fiancé Michelle Medina of Palm Springs, California; grandparents – Carmen P Rodriguez, Esmeralda Rojo; and many relatives, loved ones and friends around the world.
