

Eula Mae Melancon, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, departed this life peacefully on May 28, 2025 at the age of 80. Born on December 22, 1944, in Garland, Louisiana, she was the cherished daughter of the late Woodrow and Olia Glaze.
Eula was a proud graduate of Washington High School in Washington, Louisiana. She went on to marry the love of her life, Lionel J. Melancon, and together they built a beautiful life, raising two children who were the center of her world.
Eula was employed with the Kroger Company, where she dedicated over 30 years of service before retiring. After retirement, she embraced life with joy and purpose, devoting her time to assisting with her husband’s trucking company and continuing to be a constant presence for her family and community.
For over 50 years, Eula was a devoted member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, where her faith and kindness touched the lives of many. She was the embodiment of grace and love—a perfect mother, a loyal sister, and an extraordinary friend. Known for her joyful spirit and unwavering optimism, Eula truly loved life and always saw the best in everyone she met.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lionel J. Melancon; her parents, Woodrow and Olia Glaze; her brothers, Clarence and Leroy Glaze; her sister, Clara Barnett; and her precious granddaughter, Krystle Melancon.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving children: daughter Michelle Groves (Charles) and son Kelvin Melancon; six adoring grandchildren: Alfred Groves, Ebony Melancon, Kelvin Melancon, Jr. (Brieauna), Jasmine Groves, and Vanessa Melancon (Clarence); and a host of treasured great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her devoted sisters, Ruby Shelley (Calvert) and Catherine Booker.
Her memory will also live on in the hearts of many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
Eula’s legacy of love, faith, and kindness will forever remain a guiding light to all who knew and loved her.
A visitation for Eula will be held Monday, June 9, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Gregory the Great Church, 10500 Nold Dr, Houston, TX 77016 with funeral service immediately following. A committal service will occur Monday, June 9, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.
