

Frank Leslie Applegate Jr., 94, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, integrity, and unwavering love for his family. He was born on February 9, 1932, in Alton, Illinois, to Frank Applegate Sr. and Elizabeth Dykema Applegate. At the age of seven, his family moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where he graduated from high school in 1949 as Senior Class President. He went on to earn a degree in Chemical Engineering from Northwestern University.
Frank began his career with Ethyl Corporation before joining W.R. Grace, where he transitioned into the agricultural chemical industry. His career took him to Oklahoma, Florida, and eventually back to Memphis, where he retired as a Vice President.
In 1950, Frank met the love of his life, Helen Hoholek. They married on September 25, 1954, and shared 65 wonderful years together, raising their family in a home filled with love, faith, and kindness. As a special gift to Helen, Frank joined the Catholic Church on their 50th wedding anniversary, a reflection of his deep devotion to both his wife and his faith.
Frank enjoyed golfing from the age of 13, bird hunting with his father, sons, and grandsons, and the companionship of his beloved dogs. He was known for his honesty, humility, and quiet strength, always putting family first and leading by example.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen Applegate, and his son, Dr. Glenn Applegate.
He is survived by his children, Kenneth Applegate (Jean) and Patricia Barnes (Patrick); grandchildren, Erin Brown, Blake Barnes, Shane Applegate, and Kallie Applegate; great-grandchildren, in order by age, Aubree Wright, Ava Wright, Riley Miller, Hadley Randall, Penny Applegate, and Isla Applegate; his brother, Fred Applegate; and many extended family members and friends.
Frank’s life was a beautiful example of faith, love, and integrity. His legacy will live on in the family he cherished and in all who were blessed to know him.

Visitation will be held at St Martha's Catholic Church, 4301 Woodridge Parkway, Porter, Texas 77365, on July 7, 2026, at 10:30 am, followed by the Funeral Service at St Martha Catholic Church, 4301 Woodridge Pkwy, Texas, TX 77365, US, on July 7, 2026, at 11:00 am.
A Committal Service will take place at Rosewood Funeral Home, 22271 Hwy. 59. at, New Caney, TX 77365, US, on July 7, 2026, at 12:15 pm, and a Reception will follow at Kingwood Funeral Home, 22800 Highway 59 N, Kingwood, Texas 77339, on July 7, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
