George Willis Agnew

George grew up in Bay City, Texas and graduated from Bay City High School. After graduating George held various jobs at Bay City. One of which was working for his uncle, Pete Roe, at Pete's Paint and Body Shop, where George learned how to repair wrecked vehicles. This came in handy as his family kept him busy repairing several different cars they had wrecked. In February 1962, George was drafted into the US Army, where he proudly served his country. On May 24, 1963, George married Thelma Nell Jenkins and they were married for over 52 years. On April 1, 1967, George became employed with Delta Airlines in Houston, TX and retired in 1993 with over 26 years of service.

George is survived by his wife, Thelma Nell Agnew; his children, son, John Agnew, and daughter, Brenda Agnew. He is also survived by a foster sister, Harriett Vaughn, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Vernice H. Agnew and Nannie Lee (Roe) Agnew.

Funeral Service will be at 7:00 PM on Friday, January 15, 2016 at Bethel Tabernacle, 1020 FM 1960 E., Houston Texas 77073 with a visitation from 5:00-7:00 PM. A second service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at First Pentecostal Church, 700 Ave I, Bay City, Texas 77414 with a visitation from 10:00-11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial offering may be made in the memory of George to his church Bethel Tabernacle, 1020 FM 1960 E., Houston, TX 77073 or to a charity of your choice.
