George was born on June 20, 1946, to Esiquio and Raquel Coronado in Houston, Texas; he grew up alongside his siblings, who helped shape the man he became.
In 1963, George met the love of his life, Rosalinda, married in 1966, and built a beautiful life together, raising three children: Tonia, Chris, and Angelica (Angel). As a young man, George joined the United States Army in 1967 and proudly served our country in the Vietnam War as a Staff Sergeant before being honorably discharged in 1977. His service and dedication were recognized through several military medals and commendations.
After his military service, George joined the Department of the Treasury United States Customs in 1977, where he built a distinguished career protecting the borders of our nation. Known for his professionalism and integrity, he earned the respect of colleagues and peers alike. George retired in January 2004 and went on to enjoy the simple pleasures he loved most—hunting, fishing, and spending cherished time with his family.
Family was the center of George’s life. He cherished time spent together on family trips, sharing delicious meals at Taste of Texas, and made lasting memories. George had a passion for hunting and fishing, especially his hunting trips to Wisconsin with friends and fishing with his son, son-in-law, and grandsons. He was also his grandsons’ biggest fan - you could always find him in the stands cheering them on with pride.
George is survived by his wife, Rosalinda, his daughter Tonia Coronado-Denzer (Daryl), son Chris Coronado (Mayra) and daughter Angelica Coronado Lopez (Paul); grandchildren Mathieu Morales, Vanessa Rios, Michael (Milo) Lopez, Alexander Lopez, step-grandsons Alberto, Alejandro, and Angel Aguilar; and numerous brothers, a sister, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, and nieces and nephews. George was a man who knew no stranger and loved everyone. George and Rosalinda were devout Catholics and faithfully attended St. Martha’s Catholic Church. He was well known among his community and made several lifelong friends and will be truly missed.
The Coronado family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the physicians and nursing staff at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and Choice Hospice for their compassionate care and support they provided during his final days.
