Gladys Halachian, 84, passed away February 7, 2013. She was born in Mineola, New York of Armenian descent and lived in Forest Hills, Queens and Farmingville, New York for many years before settling in Kingwood, Texas. She was a graduate of the Traphagen School of Fashion, former switchboard operator for New York Telephone Company, bookkeeper, and retail manager for several department stores (A&S, Sears, and Macys). When she first married, she lived in Havana, Cuba with her husband, Aram. She moved back home to New York when the Castro revolution took hold. She loved life, and her diverse interests included traveling throughout the United States, growing tropical plants for her gardens, cooking elaborate meals and entertaining. She adored her children and grandchildren. She loved her tropical fish, many dogs, cats, and turtles.
Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Susan Gasparik and Elena Kritzer; sons-in-law, Tibor Gasparik and F. William Kritzer; grandchildren, Thomas Gasparik, Andrew Gasparik, and Mark Jemison Kritzer; sister-in-law, Armenuhi Banos; and niece, Monica Banos-Russo.
A memorial mass will be held 2:00 p.m., February 22, 2013 at St. Martha Catholic Church in Kingwood, 4301 Woodridge Parkway, Porter, TX 77365.
