Harold Lewis Dennis III, was born in Chelsea, MA, on December 12,1956 to
Doris and the late Harold L. Dennis Jr.                               

He attended Boston Public Schools and then graduated from Wayland High School(METCO) in 1975.  He continued his education and graduated from Florida A&M University with a degree in Communication.

In 1980, Harold moved to Houston, TX  where he joined the Army Reserves. He 
then received his nursing license , and worked as ER nurse in various hospitals throughout Houston. Most recently he was employed by Continental Airlines until his passing.

He loved helping students, ensured that METCO students from  Wayland
High School were able to visit the college of their choice by providing them free air line travel. He also provided free transportation for students to visit their families during school breaks.

Harold had entrepreneurial spirit as a photographer for Diversity Publishing
Group. He photographed Historical Black colleges & Universities (HBCU)
events.

He was very civic-minded and involved in political causes; in 1995 attended
The Million Man March, he was a 2008 Presidential Democratic State Delegate
for the state of Texas in Austin, and he was a contributor and supporter to 
The Martin Luther King Jr. Monument.

He is preceded in death by his father Harold l. Dennis Jr., and is survived by his wife Terrie Dennis; mother Doris Dennis; step-children, Janise Speers and Tommy Scott; sisters Jacqueline Green, Diana Dennis, Doris Elaine Chandler, and Joyce Dennis; brother David Dennis; nieces Cynarra Armwood, La-Kiesha Chandler, Ariana and Allena Dennis; nephews Ronald Green II, David Dennis; great niece McKenna Armwood; great nephew Ronald  Green III; grandmother Irma Johnson; devoted cousin Joe McConaga and a host of other relatives and loved ones. 

       What a Great Life he lived!

Harold, I can't believe another year has gone by,I think about you all the time some times when things happen at school I remember the advice you would give me about my students and many others.I am so Blessed to have you as a brother. I was just thinking about  you my Wonderful Brother. I miss you soooo very much! A day doesn't go by without me looking up in the sky and say Hello and thanks for looking down on me. Much love my Big Brother!

A year has passed and time is still mending our broken hearts. Time will also soften the edges and ease our burden. Let us continue to hold on to our memories, and let them bring smiles to our faces as we remember the good times with Harold. We thank God for giving him to us for as long as he did. Harold will always be loved and missed

I miss Harold so much.  I can envision him now looking down at us from heaven, smiling in his new resurrected body.  I wonder if he's networking up there? 
 
He didn't visit much, but never stayed away too long.  Talk about a man who loved his family.  If there were relatives to be found, Harold would find them...
 
His humor was something else and you could not change his way of thinking.  I can see him now in his shorts and tee shirt, giving his opinion on the black man in America.  He was always going somewhere and always willing to share his vision on life.  What I loved most about Harold was his honesty.  
 
Floyd and I were working on our computers the other day and just out of the blue he said, "I miss Harold's calls."    
 
Koryn remembers Harold always stressed the importance of reading.  She also remembers the backpack he wore (smile).
 
Sam said he always had a good word to share or advice to give.
 
Justin described Harold as a man that knew himself and was satisfied with who he was. 
 
Again, I miss Harold, but I smile when I think about him because I know that one day I will see him again.

I've always said that if you find yourself thinking about someone often after they have gone, then it means that person had a positive impact on your life.. Yes my cousin Ive thought about you quite a bit and all the things you had to say. I also know that I miss you very much but I will see you again and Im sure we can have those same discussions!

My Uncle Harold was a family man who taught his nephews and nieces to put family first. As a young kid when, Uncle Harold lived with us, I would always say Uncle Harold where are you going. Uncle Harold meant the world to us kids. As his older nephew he would encourage me to always meet people because some people would be able to take care of you down the road. Uncle Harold will be missed in our family, but also in the world today. Love you Uncle Harold.

I guess in the year that Dennis left us I still get comfort in knowing how much he was loved by so many. Dennis use to work with me as a freelance photographer for my magazines. It wasn't long before he and I became good friends. He was always eager to go that extra mile to get things done on time and correctly! He was always there to help out. Spiritually, he was and is close to God. I'm happy to know that Dennis is saved and is in God's company, because he took up his cross and followed Christ. I do miss those conversations we had about business and our lives in general. I'm glad he is at rest and I'll see him someday soon.

I always liked to call Harold, H. L. D. 3. It sounded sooo distinctive. But the most important memory of Harold that I have is  when he was sick and I was in his room watching tv with him and I ask him if  Jesus Christ was his Lord and Savior, and he said yes, that was all  I needed to give me comfort in his illness and final breath in this life. I find complete joy in knowing that he is now in heaven praising God and not having a care or worry about this world below that we live in. I do miss him very much, but I believe and know that the bible says we will see our loved ones again only if we ourselves have given our lives to JESUS CHRIST and believe that he died for the sins of the world and now sits at the right hand of GOD the father. John 3:16
If anyone wants to see Harold again, you must be saved...I know I will see him again.

Harold we miss you man. I rememeber when he last came to DC and we all were at the Capital Jazz Fest and I asked "How you feeling" and he replied, "I'm feeling okay" that was Harold no matter what the adversity he was always "I'm okay". Love you, and miss you man.

Not a day goes by that I don't think about you.  I miss you, our conversations, and I miss talking about what we need to do next.  

It is challenging finding a friend like you.  It's true, "you never  miss your water, until your well runs dry." Harold, I often hear you saying, "don't cry for me, it is well with my soul." It's only that I find it difficult at times to think positive without my buddy.  You meant so much to me.  I felt that not  many people understood me.  But Harold Dennis, he did.  That was so comforting to my soul.  

Now I talk to God a lot Harold.  There are so many things that I have to do.  Yet, I know you are up in Heaven saying, "Focus and do what you have to do." 

Just to let you know Harold, I am doing my best. Yet sometimes it doesn't feel like it's enough. Just don't ever stop talking to me.  I just believe that your memory keeps me going.  I hope I did the same for you.  

I am still struggling with saying good bye, because you will always be my dear friend. The long friendship that we had from back in the 70's is rare. Thank you for your wonderful friendship. 

Well Harold, I know you are busy up in Heaven doing what you do. So, if you can, every now and then, smile down on all of us!

My loving Brother, I miss you so very much! Everyday, I think of you! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for the last words you spoke. I will always have that memory of you calling out my name. You were an awesome, true, generous man and always willing to help your fellow man. There are not enough pages on here for me to detail how much you touched many peoples lives both young and old. 
How can anyone not be proud to have a man like this as their "Brother"?

Happy belated Birthday Brother. Ron and I went to Veterans Memorial Cemetary December 11,2010 to place a christmas Wreath near your head stone. We just wanted you to know how much we love you. Your always in my thoughts.

My Dear Cousin Harold,
I will never forget the times and moments we shared together. In particular those times where you imparted much wisdom and encouragement my way, that I still glean from today. I still have the Gonesh Sticks (incense) you blessed me with that while ago. Remember when we took that ride to Nubian Notion near Dudley Station to purchase them? You even used one of your many contacts to assure my getting a discounted price. I'll never forget the relationship we both shared cuz. I pray God's strength unto the Dennis family during these trying times.
