Ila M. Culbertson Garner

Ila Garner passed away on May 5, 2010 following a brief illness. Born in 1928 in Hastings, Michigan, Ila was a 25 year resident of Akron, Ohio before moving to Kingwood, Texas in 1981. Ila and her husband, Ralph F. Garner, met at Albion College and were married for over 61 years. Ila and Ralph were Past Presidents of the Houston Square and Round Dance Council and active members for more than 25 years. Ila was an active member of the Kingwood United Methodist Church. After retiring from teaching, Ila pursued her hobbies that included baking, knitting, and genealogical research. Ila is preceded in death by her grandson Paul. She is survived by her husband, Ralph Garner; children, Phillip Garner, Randy Garner, Dion Garner, Scott Garner, and Roberta Conrad; grandchildren, Phillip Jr., Melissa, Patrick, Janell, Jonathan, Michael and Adam; and great-grandchildren Kayla, Tristan, Brinique, Rosanna, Paloma and Zamira. Visitation will be Monday, May 10, 2010 from 6:00 -8:00 PM at Kingwood Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at the Kingwood United Methodist Church on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 10:00 AM.
