A cousin of mine from near Boston just mentioned to me she had a son who was going to Bentley this coming Fall and it made me think of Jim.  So I did an internet search and much to my sadness found out that he had passed away in 2012.  I worked with Jim at Compaq along with playing golf with him on several occasions.  I moved away from Houston in late 1996 and lost track of many Compaq employees and co-workers, Jim included.  While I was not necessarily close to Jim, he made a definite impression on me and most people who knew him.  Jim was a genuine individual with a heart the size of Texas and always a gentleman.   The world is a lesser placed due to Jim's passing and I want to offer much belated but warm condolences to his family.   He was one of the good guys!

I just found out about Jim's passing. Jim was my fraternity big brother. He was president of the chapter when I pledged. He was a great leader and a gentleman. I was honored to know him. Jay Dolan, Bentley '79. TKE 

I had the pleasure of working with Jim in Compaq, Erskine Scotland.  Jim was a very friendly professional gentleman.  He was always smiling and had the ability to get on with everyone.  I was incredibly sad to hear he had passed away and send love to all his family.  Jim was special, shame on you Richard for casting aspersions on his memory.  

He worked in the accounting group as a spy. He was sent into various other Compaq organizations allegedly to help with accounting matters, but in reality he was a spy for the CFO.  Those of us who knew him were always disappointed in him for doing that.

The Framingham South High School Class of 1970 has lost a flame in its beautiful candelabra of friendship and connection because we have lost you, Jim. We are forever bound by history, fond memories and spirit. Don't forget us, Jim. Hope you're there to meet us when we get there.

I never met you, but I heard a lot about you.  I am one of the Gallivans who lived up the street from Jimmy when he was growing up.  We were all cousins.  Jimmy was a constant presence in my chidhood and I saw him sometimes at holidays (the "sipping Scotch" from Scotland being one of the most memorable).  He was always generous, kind and high spirited.  I will miss him, You have lost someone special.  Please accept my condolences

I didn't have many occasions to meet him--4th of July, Shea family weddings, etc., but he always impressed with his graciousness, and had a great way of making you feel the center of his attention. What I have learned from knowing my brother is that character is essential:  What he was, was how he died – strong, stoic and he tried so hard - always with love at the core of that effort.  Love for his wife, Laurie, his entire family and close buddies – it was deeply rooted in his heart until the very end.

We all – in the end – die in medias res.  In the middle of a story – of many stories.  My brother's death was unexpected even with many illnesses, but I do believe his character is a story that will stoke an eternal flame in our hearts to try hard, create new outcomes, and hopefully his efforts continue on to create a story of new developments in medical research.

You were the only one who actually said that it was a bad picture, that "it didn't do me justice." It meant a lot to me that you were always extremely honest and caring. We are so sad for your loss. Duc was such a generous & kind hearted man. I have great memories over the last 20+ years. I'll miss the two of us betting the horses and trotters Superbowl Sunday in Vegas - it won't be the same without our old friend.

To Jim's wife and the rest of his family my condolences.  Jim hired me to work for him in 1983 at Compaq.  It was a life changing event for me, both working for Jim and at Compaq.
Jim was one of the most caring and nicest individuals I've ever met.  
I ran into him about two years ago after not having any contact for years.  The same old Jim stepped out of the golf shop and it was like I had seen him the day before.
I can't imagine your loss, but just hope all the memories will bring you some level of solace.

I'm so sorry for your loss but I will always cherish the time  I spent  at Deerwood on and off the course with Jim and the help and dedication he had and gave to make GAC the organization it is. Prayers and love to you both.

It was always a treat to hear that Uncle Jimmy was coming to town.  You were the funniest person I knew and being called a toilet seat or donkey never got old.  From the over the top gifts, non stop laughs, and big smile you brought so much joy to my life.  You took time to make me feel special taking me to my first Red Sox game at Fenway Park and allowing me to spend a week with you in Houston.  You were also unbelievably patient dealing with me whether it was stomping your cigarrete out during a golf tournament or making you sit through Dude Where's My Car, which you insisted was the worst movie ever made. The memories are countless and will never be forgotten. Love you!

Some of our favorite times growing was when you came into town to babysit us...boy those were fun! From burning dinners, to trying to take all 4 of us to the mall to go shopping (perhaps misplacing one of us..), to soccer practices and then allowing us to watch tv (as long as you could switch back to the stock market station every comercial break :) )..

I also had my first mortifying moment in highschool with you when I was a freshmen. You had the duty of picking me up after school. You rolled up in grandma's old white lincoln, made sean get out of the car, open my door and escort me to the car with a southern accent infront of all the after school students - ha!

There will be a big void without your presence. We miss you already. Here's to you - the best babysitter and uncle! I love you.

I'm so lucky that I was able to spend so much time with you as a child.  Every time you would visit grandma and grandpa, I would get to see you!!

You shared your travel stories and adventures which inspired my love of travel today.  You always remembered us kids and brought us amazing gifts from your journeys, a gateway through which we learned about other cultures.

I still have the beautiful gold and black necklace you brought me from one of your trips, I think is was one of the first pieces of jewelery I ever received.  I felt so special when I would wear it and I would often wonder about the people in these far away places that made such gorgeous designs.

It is still my favorite necklace and every time I see it and wear it, I think of you and all of the love you have given every single one of us.  We are so lucky to have had an uncle who cared about us so much and brought such positive inspirations into our lives.

I have loved Jim Ducey for over 20 years. Deerwood Golf Club was such a special place of those who loved friends, golf and socializing. Along with "Bigfoot"-  he and Jim Ducey were both the gentle giants of golf. They were physically imposing- but the nicest guys in the Taj Mahal Locker room. (This is my wife's term and I believe other ladies. Ladies locker room is like a small closet! The Taj is like a football field with Ramone as our coach.)
  Jim always had a special magic with the junior golfers at Deerwood. He would take each under his wing and then he was their friend, their mentor and they followed him around like a puppy dog. He influenced all of their lives. And these kids have gone on to be successful in life- not just golf.
  Jim found the love of his life- Laurie Mc Nulty- and they were so much fun to be around. Jim joined Laurie in all the efforts for cancer research through Golfers Against Cancer for well over a decade. (We all just did what Laurie and the other women told us to do!)
  Jim Ducey is still my "in-laws" favorite person after introducing them to Thai food on a trip to Kingwood 12 years ago. He had the complete assortment of take-out from the best place in Houston- and despite their sensitive palates- my mother and father-in-law from the thriving metropolis of Havana, Florida- they were enchanted especially with Jim and- then his explanations of each entree.
  I know like all of us, we loved Jim Ducey and just being around him made us better people. His kindness, his shy brilliance on any matter, and just being around him- was such a joy...
  Jim- we will miss you. And Laurie- we have all loved your boy and will continue to do so. He will be in our memories, thoughts and prayers as will you.
