James Franklin Kelley

James Frank Kelley, Jr. passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018. Frank was born on April 30, 1934 in Burkburnett, Texas to James Franklin and Mary Beatrice Rigney Kelley. In 1956 he graduated from Texas Technological University in Lubbock, Texas. That summer he moved to Houston and became active in the property and casualty insurance fièld with the purchase of Adkins lnsurance Agency. He specialized in contract bonds and casualty insurance to the construction industry. Frank retired from Bowen Miclette & Britt 2004.

He was an avid outdoorsman and yachtsman, enjoying many years sailing on Galveston Bay. A former member of the Houston Yacht Club he and his wife spent most weekends racing on Ensigns and his boat, Red Raider. He was commissioned an Admiral in the Texas Navy at the opening of the Houston Yacht Club in 1991. He was an avid bird hunter and golfer.

In 1961 Frank joined Holland Lodge No. 1, Ruthven Commandery No.2 Knights Templar and in 1973 became a 32° KCCH in Scottish Rite of Free Masonry.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Rigney Kelley, his sisters and brothers-in­law, Betty Ma rie Kelley and William Horace Haralson and Mary Francis Kelley and John Robert Corley, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Sandra, of 60 years, his brother-in-law John Glenn (Carol) De Good, his nephews Joe Ben (Rhonda) Haralson, William Kelley (Sheila) Haralson, John Victor (Karon) Thayer, John Glenn (Linda) DeGood lii, and Darren Glenn (Connie) DeGood, his nieces Terri Lee (James) McCord, and Marci Shannon (Brian) Banning.

Sandra, Memories of days at HYC with you two and Dean & Kay racing on the bay came back when I saw the newspaper obit for Frank. What fun we all had in those years... God Bless you and your family. Joni & Jerry Landon
