

Janet Lee Steinkamp, 86, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026, in Kingwood, Texas. Born on December 20, 1939, in St. Louis, Missouri, Janet later made her home in the Houston area, where she built a life centered on family, love, and devotion.
Janet was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her greatest joy came from her family, and she treasured every moment spent together. She had a kind heart, a gentle spirit, and a strength that carried her through life with grace. Those who knew her will remember her warmth, her steady presence, and the deep love she gave so freely.
She especially enjoyed music and shared her beautiful voice as a member of several choirs over the years. Music brought her deep joy and lasting friendships. She also had a love of travel and cherished the many places she visited and the memories she created along the way.
Janet was a faithful member of Webster Presbyterian Church, Hemphill Presbyterian Church, and First Presbyterian Church of Kingwood, where she worshiped and served over the years.
She was an active and proud member of Beta Sigma Phi, where she formed lasting friendships and dedicated her time to fellowship and community service.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Bob; her son, Rick, and daughter-in-law, Cindy; her daughter, Suzy, and son-in-law, Ken; her daughter, Christine; her sister, Beverly; her brother, Roy and his wife Patti; her cherished grandchildren, Matt and his wife Abby, Brigitte, Alex, Richard, and Andy and his wife Claire; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Kingwood Funeral Home, 22800 Highway 59 North, Kingwood, Texas 77339, on February 25th at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Janet’s memory to Warriors Mountain River Adventures, a nonprofit serving Veterans her son helped to found. Donations may be made at mywmra.org/donate.
Janet’s legacy lives on in the family she nurtured and the countless memories she created. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the blessing of knowing her.
