Jo Ann Malabre Currell

Jo Ann Currell, a loving and beloved wife, mother and “Nana”, was surrounded by family when she peacefully joined her Heavenly Father on the 19th day of July, 2010. Jo Ann was born on the 13th day of April, 1936 in Longview, Texas, the only child of William and Maude Malabre. She graduated from Longview High School in 1954 and later received her undergraduate degree in nursing from The Methodist School of Nursing in Houston. Upon graduating from nursing school in 1957, she married Roy S. “Bud” Currell, her husband of 53 years. Jo Ann worked as a registered nurse until later devoting all her time to raising her family. She was passionate about her family and friends and leaves us with many wonderful memories. Her friendship and sense of humor will be sorely missed by those fortunate to have known her. Jo Ann was a long time member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Kingwood, Texas and was active in the Altar Guild. She had a strong faith in God, and was always gracious, loving, and humble. Jo Ann is preceded in death by her parents, and is survived by her husband, Bud Currell of Kingwood; daughter, Penne Koepke of San Antonio; son, Steve Currell and his wife, Nancy of Kingwood, Texas; grandchildren, Kady Brook Koepke, Clay Richard Koepke, Taylor Martin Currell, and Collin Stephen Currell. A Memorial Service celebrating Jo Ann’s life will be held at 10 o’clock in the morning on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 2929 Woodland Hills, Kingwood, Texas 77339, with The Reverend William T. Richter officiating. Immediately following the service, all are invited to join the family for a reception in the Great Hall. The family would like to offer special thanks to her wonderful care-givers, Peter and Mary Ghinga, who enabled Jo Ann to live out her life with grace and dignity in the home they built out of God’s calling.
