They say it takes a village to raise a child. I was lucky to have Joe as one of my village "Dads." 

You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Thank you for sharing the wonderful photos, and for all of the memories.

I remember Billie from PHS as a nice guy who respected other people. May God bless you with His love and comfort.

Billie was a great guy, and I remember him well from PHS class 1957.. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and many friends.  God bless each of you.

Family of Joe "Billy" Herring.  We were acquaintices of those PHS years, but not really close friends.  He was always a great person to all he met and knew.  He must be at total peach now that he is with Our Lord. May his memory be locked into your heart forever and ever and imagine him meeting you at the gate when it comes your time to join him there.

What a honor it is to have know Joe. We will all miss him. Bette, Bill And Judith Keep his stories going. Love you all.

Seeing your lovely photo album brought another round of memories for me!  When I see that sweet smile, that pipe, those glasses..so familiar, I am reminded of my own father - another Bill - who was gentleness, kindness, faithfulness.  And Bette, I forget how much you and my mother favored each other!    

I know you all have missed him for a long while.  Yet, he lives in you, in your hearts.  Carry those sweet memories close in your heart and listen.  Grieve well.  Praying for you.

I remember well the evening that Joe (then "Bill") and Bette met.  A group of friends had gathered at the Gates home, and Bette came down the stairs, spotted the handsome new guy in the room, and made up her mind on the spot that this was the man she would marry.  It was truly love at first sight, and it has lasted a lifetime.  What a guy!  What a pair!

"...and how's the family?"  I can still hear Joe saying those words---while his memory of who you were may have dimmed, his gentile manners never left him.  Heaven has gained a true gentleman.  Love, Karen
