John Robert Lewis II

John Robert Lewis II, 66, of Humble, TX, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2026. John was a former marathon runner who courageously fought a lengthy illness and was surrounded by his loving wife and family.

John was born February 28, 1960 in Pontiac, Michigan to John and Marjorie Lewis. John was a long time resident of Humble, TX. He graduated from Waterford Township High School and received a Master’s degree from the University of Houston then retired from Galena Park ISD after 25 years.

To know John was to know his infectious laugh, a sound that could fill a room and was contagious to all who heard it. He found much joy in the simple things in life, passionately cheering for the Red Wings on ice, LSU on the field or listening to or shopping for music. Family vacations were top priority, enjoying a new destination every year.

John enjoyed spending time with and was devoted to his wife, Leslie, children and grandchildren, who lovingly called him “Johnny”.

He leaves his wife of 28 years, Leslie and his daughters Ashley (Kyle), Meghan and Samantha (Mike) and 9 beautiful grandchildren. He also leaves his father John, brother Gary, and 2 nephews. His mother preceded him in death.

John was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

A celebration of John’s life will be on Friday, June 19, 2026, 2:00pm at Kingwood Funeral Home, 22800 Hwy 59, Kingwood, TX 77339.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to St. Jude Research Hospital.
