

Joyce was born on October 27, 1956 in Salt Lake City, UT to Jack and Janet Hodge. She grew up in Murray, Utah and attended Murray High School where she competed on the swim team and was able to swim at the State Championships. She later attended the University of Utah where she earned a degree in Physical Education. She was an avid skier and taught ski lessons for Salt Lake County for many years. Most of her professional career was with American Express until she retired in 2011. Joyce entered the world of professional dog shows when she purchased her beloved dog, Chester. This added a wonderful new layer of activities and friends to her life. She was very active in several of the area dog clubs including, the Bonneville Basin Kennel Assoc., and the Beehive Toy Group of Utah. She was also a past member of the National Brussels Griffon Club. Joyce was an avid crocheter, needle worker, beader, and jewelry artist.
Joyce is preceded in death by her father, Jack Hodge, her mother, Janet Powers Hodge, and her brother-in-law, Alan (Jo Lyn) Lloyd. She is survived by her brothers, John (Kathy) Hodge (Littleton, CO), Jim (Lori Jo) Hodge (Henderson, NV), her sister Jo Lyn Lloyd (Kingwood, TX), her nieces April Hodge (Alex) Phillips (Atlanta, GA), Jennifer (Ted) Brown (Highlands Ranch, CO), Rachel (Stephen) Adams (Houlka, MS), her nephews, Jonathan Lloyd (Kingwood, TX) and Nicholas Hodge (Scottsdale, AZ), her aunt Cherry Sigrist (Coupeville, WA) and numerous cousins and extended family members. Not only will her family dearly miss Joyce, but also by the many friends she has made over the years through work, dog shows, and her hobbies.
A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held in Salt Lake City, UT in the near future.
