Kalie Jo Spears was born on June 18, 1976 in Taipei Taiwan. She was reunited with her Lord and Savior on January 3, 2025. Her 48 years on this earth brought joy and laughter to her family, friends, and work colleagues. During those years, she excelled at everything she tried – and she tried it all. She loved to travel and was always up for an adventure to a nearby city or far off country. She was an avid hiker and gardener, preferring to be outside in nature to indoors. Kalie could often be found outside sitting around the fire late into the night with family and friends or puttering around singing to her plants and playing with her grandchildren.
Kalie’s family was the center of her world in life, and she was always there to support her family, provide guidance, or lighten the situation with a quip or joke. Her laughter was contagious, and she kept people around her rolling with laughter and on their toes.
She met the love of her life, Bryan Douglas, through her work at Wilbros/Mustang/Wood Group, where she spent much of her professional career, working her way to project manager. She is survived by her children, Avery and Kiyara; Grandchildren, Hayden, Hadley, Kolbi-Jo, and Roman; her parents, J.D. and Susan; her sisters, Kristy and Susanne; and family and friends too numerous to list. She was a fighter and survived 4 years after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. She lost her battle with cancer surrounded by her family, but smiling, knowing that she would once again be in the arms of her husband, Bryan, who predeceased her, and spend eternity in the presence of God.
She will be laid to rest next to her grandparents, Barbara and Jimmy Spears at Bourland Cemetery in Keller, Texas on Monday, January 13, 2025 at 2:00 p.m.
However, as she spent most of her life in Houston, Texas, a celebration of life will be held on January 10, 2025 at 2:00 at Kingwood Funeral Home, 22800 59 N. Kingwood, Texas 77336. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 9, 2025 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kingwood Funeral Home. Kalie loved good food and music and fellowship, and we will have snacks, music, stories and photos from her life.
