

Born in Houston, Texas, Kathy was the third of six children born to her parents, Kenneth Ralph Auer and Beryl Eugenia Baird Auer. Her early years were marked by school, participation in Scout activities, church involvement, and family vacations. Kathy graduated from Spring Woods High School in 1967. On June 14, 1969, she married Mark Eugene Wood, who remained her lifelong partner. Kathy dedicated herself to raising three sons, instilling strong values and nurturing them into fine men. Throughout her life, she balanced her roles as a laboratory technician, farm girl and cowhand, custom baker, and working mother. Her life centered primarily on her family. Kathy retired in 2015 after a 20-year career with Kroger. Since retirement, she devoted herself especially to her five grandchildren.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Kenneth R. Auer Jr., and her sister Elizabeth Jane Reardean.
She is survived by her spouse, Mark Eugene Wood Sr.; her sons, Mark E. Wood Jr., Kevin Charles Wood, and Steven Thomas Wood; and her grandchildren, Connor Wood, Brooke Wood, Mallory Wood, Aidan Wood, and Kendra Wood. Also remaining are her brother, Michael Douglas Auer; her sister, Janet Ann Way; and her brother, David Gregory Auer.
Known and loved by all, “Aunt Kathy” leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and family friends who cherished her spirited personality. Her family and friends will gather to celebrate her life in late May. She will be fondly remembered by all.
