Larry is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carolyn; his daughter Karin (James); his son Mark; two grandchildren, Grace and Ava; his sister Penelope; his brothers Jonathan, and David (Marla), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Larry was born on May 23, 1942, in Pasadena, California. He spent most of his childhood in Chicago area where he attended Grace Lutheran School in River Forest, Illinois and Walther Lutheran High School in Melrose Park, Illinois. In 1964 he was married at Grace Lutheran Church in River Forest, Illinois.
He graduated from Iowa State University in 1965 with a business and construction degree and was a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity.
He began his career with Fluor, an engineering company, in Los Angeles, California but spent much of his career with Brown & Root and Halliburton in Chicago, London, and Houston.
Larry enjoyed volunteering with The Gathering Place at Holy Comforter Lutheran Church.
Some of his hobbies included singing and playing the piano. He sang in his church choir and was a member of the Kingwood Chorale for several years. Other hobbies included model railroading where he was a member of the APN Model Railroad Club and gardening. It gave him great joy to work in the garden with his grandaughters while giving them gardening tips. Larry also had a love for exercise and tried not to miss a day of exercise by working out at the gym and swimming.
Larry and Carolyn spent many summer weeks in the Wisconsin North Woods. Larry always looked forward to fishing, kayaking, and photography in Wisconsin. A three week trip to France last fall was the highlight of all of their travels throughout the years.
Larry was a devoted husband, a loving father, and the most wonderful grandfather.
