Lloyd "Red" Meredith

At the age of 17, Lloyd enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served during World War II. Following his service, he married Lois McClure on December 27. 1947 in Houston, Pennsylvania. Lloyd graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Geology, and enjoyed a long and adventurous career in the oil business. He and Lois, along with their children, traveled the world extensively during his career as a Geophysicist, living in many exotic destinations prior to settling in Houston, Texas in 1964. Lloyd was a member of the National Geophysical Society, the Geophysical Society of Houston, the American Legion, and Kingwood Country Club. He was very involved in Kingwood United Methodist Church for many years. Lloyd enjoyed nothing more than cheering on his children and grandchildren during their many activities.

Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents, David and Edith Meredith; and brothers, David Benjamin and Larry Meredith. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 66 years, Lois; his children: daughter, Kathleen Meredith Douglas; son, Craig Meredith and his wife, Mary; son, Douglas Meredith and his wife, Dawn; daughter, Lisa Meredith Rankin and her husband, Jeffrey; and daughter, Jodi Meredith Nester and her husband, Guy: Grandchildren: Cara Douglas Mayer and her husband, Alan; Allison Meredith; Rebecca Meredith Adams, and her husband, Dane; Stephanie Gwin; Dillon, Nadine, and Chase Meredith; John Lloyd Rankin, and his wife, Lauren; Matthew Rankin, and his wife, Alyssa; Meredith Rankin; and Christopher Nation; Great-grandson: Jacob Mayer; and brothers, Donald and wife, Claire; and Robert and wife, Phyl; sister-in-law, Lois Richardson Meredith.

Visitation will take place at Kingwood Funeral Home on Thursday, December 12, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

A celebration of Lloyd’s life will take place Friday, December 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Kingwood United Methodist Church 1799 Woodland Hills Dr., Kingwood, Texas. Interment will be private.
