

Peggy was born on June 18, 1936 in Norfolk, Virginia, to Walter and Katherine Boyd. She attended Maury High School in Norfolk and James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, where she earned a degree in Early Childhood Education.
After graduation, Peggy returned to Norfolk to teach second grade. She soon met the love of her life, naval officer Robert S. Dorrill (Bob). They married on May 20, 1961. During their sixty-five year marriage, Peggy and Bob were blessed with three children - Elizabeth Fink of Kingwood, Texas, Robert B. Dorrill (Susan) of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and David Dorrill (Emily) of Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Peggy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was the center of her world. She cherished visits with extended family, especially the annual summer beach trips with her children, grands and great-grands.
Painting was Peggy's favorite hobby. She was quite talented and enjoyed creating masterpieces throughout her life including a picture of Moses which currently hangs in the First Presbyterian Church of Kingwood office.
She was a faithful member of The First Presbyterian Church of Kingwood and an active year participant in a small group bible study and Hannah Circle
Peggy's other hobbies included playing bridge and traveling and, of course, rooting for the Houston Astros. She and Bob frequently embarked upon ocean cruises, visiting the Caribbean islands, Alaska and Canada. Peggy was also involved with several charitable and civic organizations, serving as president of the Shannon Park Women's Club and Stars of Service. She was a member of the Friends and Neighbors of Houston and the Kingwood Garden Club where she was honored to serve as Kingwood's Arbor Day chairperson.
Peggy is predeceased in life by her parents and grandson, Chad Dorrill. She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren - Amanda (Mike), Alex (Megan), Jack, Cade, Logan and Liam, and her great-grandchildren - Scarlett, Carson, Andrew, Wesley and Annie, as well as by her loving sisters Jean Bodwell (Bill) of Dallas, Texas and Kay Dahl (Georg)of Norfolk, Virginia, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on July 27, 2026 at 10 am at The First Presbyterian Church of Kingwood. (5520 Kingwood Drive).
