

Michael was born on January 16, 1940, in Baytown, Texas. He grew up in a hardworking family and carried those values throughout his life. After graduating high school, he continued his education at Jacinto City Junior College and later attended Texas A&M University, studying mechanical and technical fields related to engineering and the trades. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy, where he developed the discipline and strong work ethic that guided him throughout his life.
Michael built a remarkable 36-year career in the petroleum and chemical industries, working as a drilling and workover supervisor, senior engineer, project manager, and eventually president of his own consulting firm, M.W. Cosio, Inc. Throughout his career, he contributed to major projects for various prestigious petroleum companies, earning a reputation for technical expertise, steady leadership, and dependable problem-solving.
Outside of work, Michael was a passionate reader and a lifelong fisherman who cherished quiet mornings by the water. He loved his family deeply and never missed an opportunity to share stories, offer guidance, or enjoy time with his grandchildren. He was also a longtime member of Strawbridge United Methodist Church, where he found fellowship and community, where he found fellowship and community.
Michael is survived by his devoted wife, Ellen G.
Cosio; his children, Scott Cosio, Lane Cosio, and Robert Craig Trippel; and his grandchildren, Jennifer Perry, Jake Cosio, Lauren Cosio, Kelci Flores, Danielle Posas, Sarah Walsh, and Megan Trippel. He is also survived by his sister, Eva Joe Epperson, along with extended family and many friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Jana Cosio, and his grandson Robert M. Trippel.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the caregivers, friends, and church community who supported them during this time.
